Rob Stock looks at research by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) finding more women than men expect their KiwiSaver funds to be invested responsibly and ethically regardless of whether they were in a fund that was badged as socially responsible.

“I’m not really into arms dealing or nuclear power,” says Leanne Freeman, a Wellington accountant who has her KiwiSaver money in one of Booster KiwiSaver’s socially responsible investment funds (SRI). She also wants her KiwiSaver manager to push the companies in which her KiwiSaver fund held shares to change. She’s not alone, Booster says the fastest-growing demographic investing solely in Booster’s SRI funds are women in their mid-40s.
