Every dollar counts: Climatics grant enables greater transparency

30th June 2026

Mindful Money receives a Climatics grant to bring greater transparency to your investments

Every dollar sitting in a KiwiSaver or investment fund is making choices whether we realise it or not. Is it financing the expansion of fossil fuels, or accelerating the shift to renewable energy? Is it building the future we want, or the one we’re trying to avoid?

At Mindful Money, helping New Zealanders answer those questions is at the heart of everything we do. And today, we’re proud to share some news that means we can do more of it.

Our work has been recognised and resourced

Mindful Money has been selected as one of four organisations to receive a grant from The Climatics in their second funding round. We’re honoured to be chosen by The Climatics who work with a team of expert curators to identify organisations where funding will genuinely move the needle on climate action in Aotearoa.

This grant goes directly towards our work providing radical transparency on investments. It will help us reach more New Zealanders with the tools and information they need to understand what their money is actually doing, and to choose funds that align with their values.

That’s the mission. That’s what making money a force for good looks like in practice.

About The Climatics

The Climatics was founded by Mary-Jane Bethell and Pip Wheaton to solve a simple but stubborn problem: people want to support climate action, but don’t know where to start or assume their contribution is too small to matter. Meanwhile, climate organisations are caught in a bind; time spent fundraising is time away from the mission.

Their model pools donations to create sizable grants, then uses expert curation to identify organisations doing the most impactful work. The result is efficient and effective for everyone involved. As they put it: Small gifts fund big shifts.

In their first round in 2025, The Climatics exceeded their $100,000 target raising $104,168 for Lawyers for Climate Action, All Aboard, and Te Weu Tairawhiti. This second round continues that momentum.

Good company

We’re proud to be part of a cohort of organisations each advancing climate action from different angles:

•  350 Aotearoa: equipping people for a just transition to a community-led renewable energy future

•  Pou Take Ahuarangi: the climate pou of the National Iwi Chairs Forum

•  Coal Action Aotearoa: campaigning to end coal mining and use in Aotearoa

Together, we’re part of a growing community of organisations working toward the same horizon, a future where climate action is embedded in how we live, invest, and make decisions.
